Christmas in the Finger Lakes CD cover

July 2007- Mary Reeves of Spinergy has contacted FLMM to say her company will feature music from Rising Moon Ensemble's CD, Christmas in the Finger Lakes, as its 2007 holiday gift CD for their clients. Spinergy first heard the music last year when FLMM chose them to replicate, print and package Christmas in the Finger Lakes for RME's initial release.

Over the years, FLMM has sent clients to Spinergy for their talented and friendly staff, providing unequaled quality at competitive rates.

Award

July 5, 2007 - Rochester, NY: Machi & Machi Communications is pleased to announce that Albert Paley: In Search of the Sentinel, a film written, produced and directed by Tony Machi has won a prestigious CINE Golden Eagle Award. The CINE Golden Eagle Award recognizes excellence in professional and amateur works and is known internationally as a symbol of the highest production standards in filmmaking and videography.(The CINE Golden Eagle is to Arts and Education as the Emmy is to Entertainment.)

In the spring 2007 CINE competition, more than 300 judges viewed and evaluated hundreds of entries. Professionals in the field of film and video production, as well as subject matter experts, served in a volunteer capacity. Entries were judged by at least two juries using standards of overall excellence, evaluating such criteria as writing, sound, editing, creativity, visual presentation, insights and the extent to which the film met its stated goals and communicated with its intended audience.

Additional credits for Albert Paley: In Search of the Sentinel are: narration, actress Jane Alexander; principle videography, Steven DelMonte; original score, James Sawicki; sound, Aaron Austin, Andy Corneles and Matt Machi; editing, Tony Machi, Christopher DeAngelus and Andy Corneles. Albert Paley: In Search of the Sentinel is a presentation of WXXI-TV, Rochester, New York and is distributed by American Public Television.

Since its founding in 1957, CINE has been dedicated to discovering, rewarding, educating and supporting established and emerging talent in film and video. Among great talents whose first major awards included a CINE Golden Eagle are Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard and documentarians Ken Burns, Charles Guggenheim, Stanley Nelson, Albert Maysles and Frederick Wiseman.

Albert Paley:
The Sentinel

March 2007 - Tony Machi's hour-long documentary, Albert Paley: In Search of the Sentinel, with an original score by Jim Sawicki, premieres at the Dryden Theatre and is broadcast on WXXI-TV for the first time. The film follows the process of creating and installing the largest public sculpture on a university campus in the United States - the Sentinel, on the grounds of Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. Also featured are several of Paley's impressive works from around the country - see the portfolio on Albert's site for some truly beautiful works of art.

Tony and Jim's 1999 collaboration on an Albert Paley documentary - Albert Paley: Man of Steel - earned a Telly Award for both Machi & Machi Communications and FingerLakes MultiMedia.

November 2006 - Jim Sawicki's new music project, Rising Moon Ensemble, releases "Christmas in the Finger Lakes", featured prominently elsewhere on this site. (Click the CD image above to check it out.) This disc marks a turning point for FLMM, as Jim moves away from pro audio sales and service to concentrate on his first love - making the music!

July and August '06 - FLMM wrote the soundtrack for Machi & Machi's new documentary, The Sentinel, highlighting sculptor Albert Paley's most recent works.

Late Spring '06 - Jim worked with Steve Harrow mixing and mastering Sing the Word's latest release, The Heavens Declare. Jim always looks forward to working with Steve and his family, and the great music they create.

Feb/March '06 - Steve Bartolotta's CD, Long time Coming, was mixed and mastered by Jim at FLMM. Check out Steve's original music at his website - some great tunes and thoughtful lyrics - it has been a "long time coming", but certainly worth waiting for, Steve.

2005 - 2006 - Jim recorded and assembled the voiceovers for a series of interactive books from Starting Gate Press, designed for English language learners. (The Grocery Store title features photos of everybody's favorite grocery store, none other than Wegmans.)

Late 2005 - Jim mastered the 11-track “Songs for the Promised Land” featuring songs written by the Rev. Jim Hewes; Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter Nancy Bryan; her husband, John; and composer Glenn McClure of Geneseo. The CD was released in December and all proceeds will go toward purchasing a water truck for the 140,000 inhabitants of the Payatas community in the Phillipines.

Early 2006 - This was the FLMM studio going through its 2006 transformation - finishing touches are still in progress as of October, since the studio became a storage room while other areas were being replastered. Jim is looking forward to reclaiming his space and making a lot of music in 2006/2007.
